Im about a year and 8 months in the world of photography and so far I am having fun! Ive met a lot of wonderful and nice people (and been to a lot of places i think) because of this hobby of mine. I shoot with a Nikon d70s, 18-70mm kit lens, a 50mm 1.8 and a sb-15 flash gun. I also like to shoot black and white in film, too bad black and white film is rare and expensive nowadays. I graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, took up Communication Arts, now, a full time freelance photographer and cinematographer apprentice. Aside from fashion/glamour/portfolio, I also like to shoot photojourn, street, events, art and nudes. Ive done some works with Candy Magazine, FHM, Seventeen and 2BU! of the Philippine Daily Inquirer and did a feature on the La Union Surfing spots for the Dept. of Tourism and was featured on the lifestyle section of the Manila Standard. Ever had this? When we read or watch something again,  its not really the same.  New things like details and new words come up.  Its like the material is evolving with you, adapting to you. I love my D70s. Its been with me what, 2-3 years? my friend say's its well over 70000 shutter clicks.  Way way over the shutter click expectations. Up to now, my d70s (Scarlett) hasn't failed me yet. (KNOCK ON WOOD) But, I'm feeling the need to upgrade. But I dont have money. I dont even have money for a sb800 (Do you guys get the idea?) Man, a d40 would do. a d40x would be great. Even a new d70s would suffice for me. Man, if i had the money, I'd get myself a d80 or a d300. I'm happy with a d200 too! D3 is really dreaming already. On lenses, i'm happy with my 18-70mm kit lens, a 50 1.8 somebody gave me and a borrowed 2.8 zoom. I also have a 2nd hand sb800 with a cracked body which i got from a friend for a low price. and I borrow tripods. Thu, 12 Jun 2008 03:02:00 -0000 May blog (Whatever It takes) another late blog hehe.  looking back, the picture that kept flashing on my mind was a picture that will probably never be published.  it was a photo i took for Araneta Center.  they have this huge garden inside the mall and it had no ceiling on top of it.  it was a 4-5 floors, maybe even 6 because entered through a door located at the cinema floor of the Gateway, and took stairs again to get on top.  Was only supposed to get photos for the garden on its mainfloor, but I suggested that we take some "aerial shots", I didn't actually thought that it would be so high. haha! I used to train for UAAP track and field and play basketball with Nike. So when my friend ym messaged me about this contest, I know I do not want to let it pass me by. Had one problem, the age limit was 16-23. I'm 24. But I figured, what the heck. I emailed them that I was 24, and said, "Just Do It. A week later, they emailed me, saying they will get in touch with me next week. Had a problem, I was bound for Hong Kong that week.  Good thing the airplane left us. Our flight was at 3pm. Nike called at 4pm. After Hong Kong, we had the shoot for Nike. Rules were that: We cant let the athlete pose for us. We cant use flash. We can't get inside the court. I was surfing the tube this morning for any sign that there will be a NBA playoff game today.  As posted in my blogs a few posts back, we do not have NBA TV or BTV because we are on SKY Cable.  Its a good thing that atleast CS Sports, STAR Sports, and ESPN do show scheduled games on several occassions because of the playoffs.  Anyway, while surfing I came across what looked like a blurry, digitally shattered, expanded video footage clips of the Lakers vs Jazz.   It was a news report show for UNTV, where a reporter was trying to give a play by play analysis of what happened.   It was funny because 1.  I swear they got the video clips from YOUTUBE or any other sites where users can upload videos .  Well, the small resolution sized video was like being "alt-entered" on a monitor.  You get the picture?  The video was stretched.  2.  It had this huge white watermark on it.  Did they ask permission to use that video for br... http://martinjesseherrera.multiply.com/journal/item/89/What_I_saw_on_UNTV_today. Fri, 9 May 2008 08:06:00 -0000 Tawi Tawi A couple of months back, I went to the island of Tawi Tawi. Its an island south of the Philippines, actually, more like nearing the tip of the Philippines. Anyway, its in Mindanao, and with us Luzon people, we always hear a lot of bad things about that part of our archipelago. Its almost always as if its synonymous to violence and insurgencies. When I got the work opportunity from a friend, saying that its in Mindanao, I immediately grabbed the chance to going to a place so foreign to me. Of course, I heard a lot from the people who cared about me. Saying this and that, I assured them that we will be safe there. We went to Bongao, and upon arrival to the airport, sea and sand greeted us as we touched down. The place was beautiful. The island had raw beauty, nothing comparable to what I have seen before. The town there was simple, and so was the townspeople.
